The Rules Are Being Rewritten

And Vacation Won't Reset What Needs Your Attention

Here's What I Know

The balance of leadership, people, and technology is shifting fast, rewriting the rules and raising expectations at a pace that leaves many leaders unsatisfied and stuck.

Transitions, questions about what’s next, and constant rehashing don’t create clarity, because rest alone doesn’t resolve the deeper need for direction and alignment.

There is no arrival point that finally feels like enough; clarity comes through intentional reflection and reset, not doing more, but looking inward.

Why More Frameworks Won't Help

The leaders I work with are seeking a path to ascend, balance, and transform across the various roles they play. They've tried buying the next framework. They've downloaded the toolkit. They've attended the workshops.

And they're still carrying the same weight.

That's because you don't need more information. You need to return to your true nature and drive. You need a way to hear yourself again, beneath the noise, beneath the expectations, beneath the performance.

You need clarity you can stand on.

The Practice That Changed Everthing

For years, I worked within systems that demanded everything while honoring nothing. I led teams, navigated organizational politics, and delivered results, all while feeling increasingly disconnected from why I started.

Then the systems I'd been operating within shifted dramatically. I had a choice: perform stability or lead from the truth of transition.

That's when I discovered what I now call the Drumbeat Method, timed writing that bypasses your editorial function and gives voice to what you already know but haven't been able to say.

Not journaling for catharsis. Not therapy. A leadership practice that helps you identify what you're no longer available for, so you can make space for what's actually yours to carry.

Ascend

Rise from the reactive patterns that keep you stuck. Identify what you're carrying that was never yours to hold, and learn to lead from a place of intention rather than obligation.

Balance

Find equilibrium between high achievement and genuine well-being. Not by lowering your standards, but by setting boundaries that honor both your ambition and your humanity.

Transform

Move from clarity to action. Make the decisions you've been avoiding, have the conversations you've been postponing, and step into the version of yourself that's been waiting.

What Changes When You Tell Yourself The Truth

The leaders I work with aren't looking for permission to coast. They're looking for permission to be audible to themselves, to name what's no longer working, and move before the moment passes.

They're done with performative programs and pay-to-belong communities. They want clarity with teeth, not theory.

If that's you, start here.

A Leadership Reset Rooted in Capacity, Boundaries, and Truth

A Leadership Reset Rooted in Capacity, Boundaries, and Truth

Does this sound familiar...

You’re uncovering the gap between what you’ve been performing and what’s actually true about your capacity, values, and leadership season.

You’re identifying the boundaries you haven’t set yet—and reckoning honestly with the cost of continuing without them.

You’re recognizing where your loyalty has been misplaced, especially to roles, systems, or expectations that no longer serve you.

You’re outgrowing an old version of yourself while feeling the tension of what’s trying to emerge next.

You value real conversation grounded in both data and lived reality—not polished platitudes or theoretical fixes.

You’re ready to make one clear, grounded move in the next seven days to reclaim energy, agency, and direction.

This Isn't About Becoming Someone Else

It's about becoming audible to yourself and moving before the moment passes.

These prompts won't give you answers. They'll help you hear the answers you already have.

"It Changed Everything"

""I've done the leadership development programs. I've read the books. But this was the first time I actually heard myself say what I needed to say. The sentence that surprised me became the conversation I had the next week—and it changed everything.""

- Senior Leader, Federal Consulting

Why I Do This Work

I'm Dr. Jessica Herbert, ICF Professional Certified Coach and founder of Asbatra Coaching. For two decades, I've operated in high-stakes environments, from law enforcement to federal consulting to academia. I've built systems, led teams, and delivered results in spaces that weren't designed for the whole truth.

I know what it's like to be praised for your capacity while being penalized for your needs. To carry everyone's uncertainty while your own clarity goes unattended. To succeed on paper while feeling increasingly disconnected from your purpose.

In January of this year, the organizational systems I'd worked within for decades shifted dramatically under a new administration. I had a choice: perform stability I didn't feel, or lead from the truth of transition.

I chose the truth. And that choice led me here, to building Asbatra Coaching, to developing the Drumbeat Method, and to creating containers where leaders can do the same.

My work is grounded in neuroscience-based coaching, organizational systems thinking, and Brené Brown's Daring Leadership methodology. But more than credentials, it's grounded in the lived experience of choosing to lead differently, not by leaving systems, but by staying anchored to what's true.

The leaders I work with aren't running from something. They're running toward their next level of leadership. And they're done pretending the old ways still fit. If that's you, let's start with what you're no longer available for.
